Hello ATARNotes, I'm Elysia Teh and I'm offering Indo tutoring.

I'm aware that I'm still in Year 12, and that Indonesian students wanting tutoring are rare, but I thought I'd put myself out there anyway and see how this goes.
I completed History: Revolutions and LOTE: Indonesian (SL) last year and received raw study scores of 46 and 50 respectively for them. I also received the Mac.Rob Indonesian Prize (sponsored by the Indonesian Consulate) as well as this year's Premier's Award for Indonesian. I really want to retain my ability to speak this language and believe that tutoring others will help both of us. Win-win.

I currently already have one student (and another interested student who will hopefully be starting up tutoring soon), and I've previously taught piano so I do like to think I have
some level of experience in helping others to learn.
Although I'll be happy to help with any questions regarding history, I really do want to focus on Indonesian as I believe while Revs can quite easily be self-taught, Indonesian requires a massive amount of practice to get to the level of fluency expected in the exam.
Approach to tutoringBasically, I can adapt to whatever you need in terms of Indonesian. Refining writing skills, clarifying grammar, even learning vocab. But the main thing I can provide as a tutor is practice. Specifically, conversation practice. Last year, in the period from Term 3 up to the oral exam, I was scheduled for 1-2 periods/week in class of conversation practice, 1 period with the language assistant and multiple lunchtimes with my classmates - just to practice speaking Indonesian. I believe my fluency in the oral sector of the course was a large part (if not the largest) in obtaining a great study score. Not all schools provide language assistants, and not everyone have 'study buddies' to help with conversation practice, so that's where I can help. 30 minutes - 1 hour of additional practice on general conversation or your detailed study starting from early Term 3 will have you all set to ace your oral exam in October!
Logistics & stuff...My preference would be to tutor at the state/city libraries on weekdays, or at my house in the Blackburn/Forest Hill area on the weekend. I
am doing Year 12 this year, so I'm not looking to fill up ALL my time with tutoring, but I do have some hours to spare. If you live on the Belgrave/Lilydale line and would like me to go to your house, we might be able to work something out.
Not entirely sure what to charge yet. My current students are paying $25/hr so I'm going to go with that. Feel free to PM me about this if there are any problems.
I'm aiming to get a couple of students to work with, especially in Terms 3+4 in the lead up to oral exams. If you have any friends doing Indo, let them know!

To all the amazing tutors in the VN community, if you have any advice/suggestions/etc please, please, please let me know!
