3. if you are unable to attend the exam, they [might] consider in giving you a derived exam score (given that your circumstances are appropriate).
in the process of giving you a derived exam score, they take in account:
- your cohort's performance and your moderated SAC score (weighed most)
- your GAT score
- your teacher's "honest and unbiased" prediction of what he/she thinks you might get (haha, sounds like a joke, but its there, though it is weighed the least)
so your derived exam score is not just your GAT (VCAA is more fair than what its stereotyped to be).
and before they allow you to do that, your excuse must be appropriate (like getting hit by a car and had to go to hospital, etc)
so not rocking up to exams because you think you went pretty awesome on the GAT is NOT an option.
but because GAT is considered, you'll want to do well just in case
last year, someone from my cohort suffered a total stress-attack in one of the exams, and her performance were really bad. Though her and the school did appeal to VCAA, but because she didnt take the GAT seriously, they did not award a higher derived score.
