Ah sweet, that should sort that out. However, i Just looked at the pre-reqs for Physics 2, and that requires "Vce physics 3+4" and doesnt have any mention of "or equivilent". Am i screwed?

Nah, once you finish Physics 1: Fundamentals, you're considered to have the same knowledge as people who just did the standard stream. Just don't do any advanced physics, whatever you do. I did that first semester and nearly died.

Nope, it just shortens your degree by one subject. You can definitely still use it as a prerequisite, since I used it for Vector Calc, Eng Maths and Eng Computation and have a waiver for calc 2 and lin alg sitting in my inbox for masters.

Hmm, you enroll in both semesters as once now? Can you change your second semester subjects mid sem-1?

Yeah, you can change your subjects at any time up until the census date for the relevant semester, which is generally a couple of weeks into the semester.

Can anyone comment on the difficulty of Monash Engineering and Melbourne? At Melbourne you have to go via BSc (You can go via those other ones but really, atleast in BSc you'll learn something) which involves a lot of maths subjects. I like engineering, I don't like obscure fanciful maths.

Also monash has aerospace which is what I'm looking at doing >.> The one that Melbourne doesn't offer obviously has to be the one I'm most interested in.

Probably not, unless they've been to both. Don't listen to anybody who says otherwise: they're just trying to validate their own choice in university.

Believe it or not, you'll have to do a fair bit of maths regardless of where you go, or you'll be a joke of an engineer. At Melbourne you'll do 3 maths subjects: Calculus 2, Linear Algebra and Engineering Mathematics. At Monash you'll also do 3 maths subjects: Mathematics For Engineering, Advanced Engineering Mathematics A and Advanced Engineering Mathematics B. Both sets of three cover roughly the same content. If you haven't done specialist, you'll also have to do Calculus 1 if you go to Melbourne or Foundation Mathematics if you go to Monash.

i don't get why people say UoM's engineering is so shit and based on theories rather than practicals..

I can't really say much about environmental engineering. I know we have quite a bit of focus on it though. What I can tell you is that if you want to do it, you'll be much better off in environments than science.

And people say it's shit because they want to justify going to whichever uni they chose over Melbourne for whatever reason. The Melbourne course is very good and anybody who tells you it's rubbish and isn't from Melbourne is talking out of their arse. Whether or not it's better than other unis is another thing (and generally unanswerable), but saying any of the engineering courses from Melbourne, Monash or RMIT are sub-par is just ridiculous.
