I emailed them asking what sort of confirmation we could get and they said that it's simply a case of mentioning you got over 99 when applying for the graduate program, 2 and a half years later down the track. That sort of uncertainty doesn't sit well with me =S

Well there's a document you have to fill out and submit, so it's a formal process and not just a word of mouth thing. It's not like the uni has plans to lure students in and then abandon them

The major drawbacks of the FFP place is that when you graduate you'll be below CSP students in the priority list for an internship and that you'll have to find 200k from somewhere (or 100k with FEE HELP)

Ah really? When I emailed them, they said it was a on-the-spot kinda thing.

What would you have done if you didn't receive a second round offer?

Gone to UAd. Had an offer there already. If I didn't get that, then probably go into UoM Biomed, aim to get into CSP graduate Med through the usual route, but if that failed, then go into full-fee with the 99 guarantee.

Possibly because 3 years ago nobody really knew anything about the way the system was going to be structured

Thanks for the replies,

I'm cautious about doing biomed because I haven't taken physics, but much more importantly biology
so I may be disadvantaged (not just sitting the GAMSAT, but even through classwork and grades), as biology is a big component of biomed apparently

I don't know about Biomed, but all of Bio 3/4 was covered in about 2-3 weeks in my course. Those who hadn't done Bio might've been disadvantaged for just those few weeks, but they caught up pretty quickly. But still, keep in mind that you can do anything to get into Med really. There's some graduate Deakin students at the hospital I'm working at atm, and some come from an Engineering, Arts etc background.

This is me too! Chose Psych > Bio.
Um, MBBS @ Monash has a Biology bridging course doesn't it? Does UniMelb have the same sort of thing?

No (for the UoM bridging course). VCE biology is essentially just retaught in the two core first year biomed subjects, so if you haven't done it before you don't get to slack off in those classes.

Plus the biology on the GAMSAT is predominantly very easy reading comprehension stuff that you can do with logic and no biological knowledge.
