Looking to apply to the USA? Want to work on the SATs? Confused about essays and the common application? I can help!

Last year, I applied to the 'Big Three' - Harvard, Yale and Princeton - and was accepted at all three. When I received my admission notifications, my school's careers counsellor told me I was the first ever student at my high school to be accepted to an Ivy League as an undergraduate.

However, being accepted to any American college requires knowledge about how the system works; information that is often difficult to obtain in Australia. This is understandable - we're not inundated with college advising programs like the Americans. I asked around for advice, and without having done so, I doubt I'd have been admitted anywhere. So this is where I come in.

After months of applications, research and communication with other Ivy League students, I now have a pretty good knowledge of the system. I'm willing to offer programs to help students understand the application process.

Application preparation/understanding
The common application can be daunting for Australian students. With three references needed, a whole list of extra curriculars, a supplement for most colleges and a common essay, as well as a list of awards, it's no wonder that many students shy away. In application preparation sessions, I hope to
-explain the different aspects of the common application to students, including the school forms
-brainstorm ideas about extra curriculars, and how to present them on the common application
-brainstorm ideas about the essays and show sample segments
-explore different college options for students
-critique application essays or segments that have already been completed
-discuss supplements
-discuss scholarship opportunities

Sessions solely on application preparation would typically last one hour, at a cost of $35.

SAT tuition
The SAT is an essential component of any application. Whilst applications are generally holistic, it is important to obtain a decent score. I have previously tutored students in the SAT, in addition to tutoring students in english and maths - both subjects that appear on the SAT. Most SAT tuition sessions will last one hour and will take the following format:
-explanation of the ways to tackle the vocabulary questions
-critical reading
-speed essay writing development
-maths
-grammar

However, if students are currently working through preparation books, I am willing to have several sessions in which I help students to solve the problems. Younger students are welcome.

I am also willing to combine SAT preparation and application preparation into one two hour session, at a cost of $60. All sessions would need to occur before mid August, which is when I will be leaving Australia to attend Yale. To organize sessions, please message me and I can provide my private email address and mobile phone number.
