General idea for an essay length?

I know there are many threads on this (need a definite answer hopefully), and I DO believe in quality over quantity when it comes to English. However, what word limit should we be aiming for (assuming that it is mostly good/relevant stuff) and is there a length where VCAA markers stop reading because it is too long. My recent few essays (text response) have been around the 750-850 mark, just not sure if it is too short (I hope its not too long  :-\ ).

Mine are usually 850~ however, imo 900-1000 would be a solid word count. But yeah quality>quantity.

Our Lit Teacher expects us to write about 1000 words for our essays to qualify for A+, for a SAC worth 2 periods.

800 is good and quality is definitely > than quantity but having said that, a lot of the time A+ responses are longer because they get the chance to go into detail and analysis of the texts. Shorter essays may be fantastic but if you have a longer essay discussing the ideas more at length, then they more often score better!

Ok, thanks! So I probably need to increase my essay length by 100-200 words (extra para maybe to add depth and scope). Thanks again, another thing I need to improve on. :)
