Another possibility: It is a definite integral, evaluation is to be done by calculator and cootcoot wanted to do it analytically.

In methods, when we go through the process 'integration by recognition', what we are really doing is Integrating by Parts, however we are told which functions are to be used.  If this question were to appear in a First Year calculus course, generally you would have to determine the function to differentiate (from which the answer can be found).
