Hey guys, how much is everyone worrying about knowing the principles of green chemistry as well as waste management issues and things like that? Is it worth studying up on? Thanks!

Waste management comes up in Unit 4. Probably not worth actively remembering for year 12, because you'll just relearn it.

OH, I see.

Yes. It's a dot point in the study design.

The dotpoint is
• principles of waste management used in the chemical industry

...the way I interpret that is that we need to know how to apply the principles - as in, common knowledge things like waste prevention, using renewable feedstocks etc.

But yeah, like roly asked - is it worth memorising the green chem principles? What kinds of things should we study?

The ones relative to your chemical chosen, I think.
In the trial exams I've done, it's always been relevant to the detailed study that your school picks.

I don't have any special knowledge about the course that you guys don't, so my guess is as good as yours. Hence, no idea about the extent of knowledge you need for green chemistry. All I know is that the sample exam doesn't really examine it.
