WHich one of the following is a possible explanation of why forgetting occurs?
A. Suitable retireval cues not used
B. Memory fades through disuse over time
C. Material has been attended to in STM
D. The subject is motivated to remember

I chose A but i dont know why B isnt correct either. Isnt B mentioning the decay theory?

B is mentioning the decay theory. I'm not sure why they would say it, it is a rather ambiguous question. The correct answer is A, in that they fail to use the right retrieval cues.
I think they may have put B down as an incorrect answer due to the criticisms of decay theory etc?
And also with multiple choice.. you are supposed to go with the MOST correct answer, some others may seem correct, but its the most correct.
Was this a question of a practice exam?
It is unlikely you would get a question this ambiguous in the actual exam :)

Heres a question that is really hard

Memory of the names of all the students in your school class is an example of _________ memory.

ans: declarative (according to 08 checkpoints) but why not semantic?

Declarative, as it is kind of a combination of Semantic and Episodic.
I asked my teacher about this question just last week
It incorporates both, as to remember them you also have to remember when you met them, and were introduced (episodic), as well as the actual fact about them (their names)

I did that question in checkpoints. Its really difficult when they ask questions that could be either declarative or one of the subsystems, but I believe that generally, if they ask a question likethat, if they are looking for one of the subsystems of declarative, they will specify, or make it really obvious. (i.e. julie remembers the time she fell over due to her ____________ memory, or she remembers the formula for the radius of a circle due to her ___________ memory)

Maybe you didnt read the question properly or they changed the exam cause the alternative B was listed as  "Memory fades through overuse over time"
ur mind probably changed the word overuse to disuse cause you've studied so hard and whenever u see "memory fades" u automatically define it in your head
