Can someone please help me approach this essay topic? :)

Our task is: Write an essy on a point of view in response to the issue about "Schoolyard Bullying"
We have been given two articles
One is about the recent actions taken by the Government to protect victims and basically talks about dealing with bullying.
Other article is on the Casey Heynes incident

My contention is that school yard bullying is well evident in our society and that the current generation does not know how to deal with it.
What I have planned to do is
Intro
Para 1: Definition of Bullying, lead in to school environment and link to Casey heynes
Para 2: Talk about bullies and how they are "created" Using ritchie (the guy who got powerslammed ) as an example. Lead into negative effects of physical reactions to bullying.
Para 3: Explore how physical reactions to bullying is bad, use Casey Heynes case as an example
Para 4: Talk about alternatives to reacting physically and adults role in the situation. Use the lack of supervision in this case as an example
Conclusion

hmm i was thinking of doing something like that, but we need to do a rebuttal which is quite hard for that approach unless you can think of something good that comes from bullying

so what i was thinking was to approach it by looking more at the reaction of Casey so that way i can explore the same stuff as you've outlined and have a rebuttal
what i have so far is
Para 1 - Evolution of Schoolyard Bullying, how its come about and the standards of our current society
Para 2 - Negative Message Spread by Act
Para 3 - The Negative Impact on bully and victim in dealing with bullying physically
Para 4 - Responsibility of Schools/Adults (Same as your para 4)
Rebuttal - Then a rebuttal talking about using violence effective stopped the bullying as opposed to Casey writing 60 reports to the school which were ignored

Not necessarily, you can, but it can just be a simple one or two line comment, saying: On the other hand, bullying is a necesaary part of life, and teaches children the hardships of real life.
You simply have to show the marker that you've actually considered the other side of the argument, but you don't have to rebut it.
