Believe it or not, it's actually important - the sex is meant to be ridiculous and over-the-top, symbolising the awkwardness in the relationship between Dan and Laurie, as well as that Dan is more or less socially dysfunctional.

I'm serious.

Yeah but that's because while everyone else is a cool superhero, he's an owl man thing.

Yeah the sex scenes were way awkward, seriously, who would have sex in a massive floating bubble thing that looks like it was made in the 18th century. If this is the norm, I don't want to think of what happens in the International Space Station :S
