Chances of getting an offer 2nd round.
« on: January 24, 2009, 06:21:29 pm »
Hi everyone,

Unfortunately i failed to recieve a first round offer.

What are the chances of being offered a course in second and third round??

Aren't Uninveristy's supposed to offer you a course if you get well above the cleary in ENTER for that course? If so, then i'm not sure why i didnt receive an offer :(

Help would be appreciated :)

If you got above the clearly in then you should have been offered a spot.

THIS YEARS clearly in data can be found  in coursesearch
http://www.vtac.edu.au/courses/searchcourse.html

Make sure to check VTAC online to see if you got an offer.

First of all, how can we know if you don't provide us enough information? What was the clearly-in, what was your ENTER, was there other selection criteria?

Also, are you looking at 2009's clearly-in?

I agree though, if you PM me your ENTER, the courses you believe you should have been offered a spot in, I can check for you (or double check).

Yeah something is wrong if you got above the Clearly-in ENTER for 2009 and didn't get an offer. Are you sure you met the pre-reqs? If so you should check it out cause somethings obviously gone wrong. :l

Oh yeah, prerequisites. Did you get the required study scores if applicable?

Unis are supposed to offer you a place if you get above the clearly in enter full stop.

If you have doubts, call VTAC on monday asap. That would be far more useful then asking people here

Well firstly i didnt recieve the ENTER i was aiming for, i actually recieved a 79.80 :(

My careers counsellor advised me to keep my prefferences as is, because VTAC will provide an offer for my first highest prefference im eligable for.

My prefferences were:

1. RMIT Journalism 95.15

2. RMIT Media 93.00

3. Latrobe Journalism 86.00

4. Latrobe Media 80.25

5 Deakin ---------

Wait as i write this i just realised i missed out on my fifth prefference by .5

Media and Communication 79.85 @ Deakin , last years cleary in score was 71.00

None of my prefferences are listed below that score.

Shit.....

If it doesn't go well you can always apply again next yr. Take this yr off to work.

Or, see if you can apply directly to a TAFE writing course (usually you'll need a folio to do this, I'm pretty sure).

You do realise you could've changed your VTAC preferences after you received you ENTER, don't you? You really should have put something lower just to be certain.
