For those of you with part time jobs, how many shifts/hours will you be doing once uni begins?
I don't have many contact hours but still want to do well and am unsure of how much I should be working.  ???

Ehh if I'm going to uni 3 days a week, I think I'll be working another 3 days so about 15 hours per week I would think.

I think that leaves plently of time for studying and going out.

I do three subjects a semester, and work 5 days a week, minimum 33 hours per week, but often more like 45 hours per week+. I have a H2A average, have never had a grade below a H2B. Have been doing this for 2 years so far, no problems. It is definately do-able, just depends how much you are willing to sacrifice!

Did 18 hours on average last semester (am casual), picked up to about 25-30 hours a week during the exam period, straight HDs

If you can manage your time well, you can pretty much do all the studying you need to at uni during your breaks. Stuff that 'you need to study 6 hours a week per subject outside of uni' crap.

That is just stupid, how do they expect you to live on 10 hours (~$150) of work a week?!?

I could live off $150 a week without a problem (with my parents help of course :) ) . What could u possibly be spending it on?

If you tutor, 10 hours a week is more like $250-300 (even more if you get people to pay you more)...

$150 for me would definetly not be enough for me. I like to put at least half of my pay in savings especially as i need mega $$$$ to study overseas next year. Then you have to take into account having some form of social life. Plus i work nights so i usually buy dinner on my break (probably should just take a sandwich or something but i work at a subway and its too good to not buy it addicted lol)
