Round 2 offers
« on: January 26, 2009, 03:30:38 pm »
My friend has been offered a place at Uni but she doesnt wanna do it and wont accept it.

Swinburne was her third preference but she wants a preference LOWER on her preferences. If she doesnt accept it can she get lower preferences or does she still have to do irregular offer?

Arent Round 2 offers, only offered to people above your Round 1 offer? :P

I think she has to apply for an irregular offer.

She must accept the first offer and apply an irregular offer.

Chances of getting an irregular offer is slim, so she may end up with no course if she does not accept the first.

She doesnt want to do the preference she got so why should she accept it. She 100% refuses to do the course. She didnt realise how shit it was (she didnt research properly)

Well, if she doesn't accept, applies for irregular offer and doesn't get it, then she'll end up with no uni place.

What course did she get an offer for?

She can:

a) Apply for an irregular offer:

Information from vtac: I missed my change of preference, what can I do now?

Quote
You can apply for an Irregular Offer if you:
- Have received an offer but want to be considered for a course listed lower on your preferences than the offer you have already received.
- Have received an offer but want to apply for a course not listed on your preferences.
- Have not received an offer and want to apply for a course not listed on your preferences.

Information on how to submit an irregular offer:
Quote
First you must ensure that you meet the requirements for the course. If you are applying for Graduate Entry Teaching courses you must also qualify for the method.

Next you must contact the selection officer for the course to find out whether there are any places available and whether they are prepared to consider making you an offer in the following round. At this stage you should also check if the selection officer requires any documentation.

Then you must print and complete the 'Application for Irregular Offer' form. You can access your personalised form via MyInfo. Your name and VTAC ID will be printed at the top of the form.

Finally you must take or send your completed form to the selection officer to sign – do not send the form to VTAC. VTAC recommends that you hand-deliver or fax the form to the selection officer instead of sending it by post. VTAC also recommends that you request a copy of the signed form for your own records.

If your application for an irregular offer is successful, the course you applied for will override your other preferences. The deadline for applying for an irregular offer varies depending on the course.

If her application for an irregular offer is unsuccessful, she can:

a) Enroll in the course she got an offer for, and then attempt to transfer mid-year/ end-of-year.
b) Deny the offer, take half a year off, and then apply for mid-year entry into a course.

I just hope she hasn't missed the deadline for applying for an irregular offer. I think it varies depending on the university, so tell her to get onto it ASAP.

Shit in the sense that the course name to her doesnt reflect what the course should be about (the majors dont interest her at all)
