don't give up, you never know what'll happen :) what job was it for?

Thanks Nina :)

It wasn't for a job... I have enough of them already, lol.
It was for a leadership program @ uni - they received more than 100 applications, decided to interview only 45, and are only accepting 20.
The small consolation is that @ least I beat the girl who was going after me - she arrived in boots and a mini skirt.

I went to work straight afterward, and my boss and one of my coworkers ended up consoling me for about 20mins, trying to tell me how good I probably was and how harsh I am on myself... but they cannot appreciate how absolutely terrible it was and how I froze up and even got a bit emotional (the conversation moved to the fact that the person I most admire is my best friend, because she's always been there for me even during my parents' divorce all those years ago and such, and how she's just such a very strong person with a wonderful heart and the kindest, most giving person I know).

Yeah... I'm expecting an outright rejection.
If I were being interviewed by a female majority, I may have fared better (2 males and 1 female... but you could tell it was the males who were taking the lead and taking charge).

Alas, it obviously wasn't meant to be.

I was puzzled by one of their Qs though... he asked me how many AFL footballs I thought there were in Australia.
I found the question so strange at first that I needed clarification ("As in... physical footballs that you kick around?" ...Lol... me = dumbass).
My boss explained to me that he was probably trying to get a bit of an idea as to how I thought up answers to such abstract questions... that he wanted a bit of an insight into how I ticked.

LOL - you know you've beaten at least one applicant then xD

I'm not sure it's such a bad thing that you got emotional - I'm sure they don't want robots as leaders. And nowadays a lot of men are even more emotional than women.

o.O at the footy question though ... wtf? What was your answer to that eventually? :P

Lol... I had a think about it for a moment, then I asked him how many people there were in Australia.
He said 21 million, so I said there'd be about 7 million footballs.

I justified it as 3 people per household, and 1 football per household, on average.
I explained that obviously not everyone likes football, and many households would not have one, but there'd also be those households with 5 boys, each of which *has* to have their own football, and then there's all the footballs that sit in peoples' cupboards and don't get used.

I mean... obviously this sort of question has no correct answer, and it's more how you justify it.
My boss said that my answer was thought out... she compared it to people who would just have shrugged and guessed some random figure with no real justification... she said that there was nothing to be gained from a response like that (like, the random figure).

I'm not sure it's such a bad thing that you got emotional - I'm sure they don't want robots as leaders. And nowadays a lot of men are even more emotional than women.

Yeah... but because I was nervous, it was a bit of emotional overkill... I know it sounds presumptuous to say this, but I consider myself to be a caring person and in tune with the feelings of those around me, but I don't think I'm any more emotional than the next person. I was caught up in feelings to the point where one of the interviewers asked me how I possibly hoped to survive in the cut-throat corporate environment. I tried to explain (albeit, poorly), that it's kind of like getting bad customers... you learn to let it roll off you and not take on any of the negativity... that you're the better person if you're able to rise above this.

Eh... anywayz... it will be morning soon >.>

Note to self, learn to be robot if want to work in corporate environment. >:(
