Ah well. I wish I'd gotten an official IQ test done when I was younger :( The only ones I've done are the ridiculous online ones.

My old school really wanted me to do one so that they could "officially" accelerate me, but my parents refused :( Ca alors.

If it's an online test, I'd be skeptical of its validity. However, a score of 132 is usually sufficient for MENSA, which only accepts the top 2% of the population.

mensa is 140, and to quantum, turn your signs around, you're saying that LESS THAN 140 is genius:P

I thought 140 represented the top 0.25%, which was far above the cut off for MENSA.

I googled it and from what I can tell you are right, 130 should be enough to get you into MENSA. But I don't believe an IQ test at a young age would have been a good idea. A lot of people who get told they have extremely high intelligence at a young age grow up so arrogant that it's detrimental to their development. If my child got IQ tested at a young age and got something really high I wouldn't tell him\her until he\she was older.

i agree that they may grow up arrogant and so not telling them would be a good idea but wouldn't they find out (when they are old enough to understand) that they don't attend a normal school? and therefore start asking questions....

Nah, I just wish I'd had it done because it was the only way which my old school allowed students to be officially accelerated (they've changed the system now). Personally, I don't really care what the number is (I'd probably not want to know!), but it would've been better to NOT have spent copious semesters learning how to "factorise" or reading picture story books.

I've never done an IQ test, btw, and apparently the accuracy decreases with age, so there's not much point in doing one now (I'm not at that school anyway :)).

I have never heard of these schools :S aside from macrob and melbourne high, but they aren't even really gifted schools, because you can prepare for the tests and stuff

i saw a thing about them on some show.... it involved kids of like 4 years old though so im not sure if there were specific primary or secondary schools set out later on for them....
