It's dependent on the test but the general consensus is that 100 is average.

If it's an online test, I'd be skeptical of its validity. However, a score of 132 is usually sufficient for MENSA, which only accepts the top 2% of the population.

In an IQ test the average is 100 and the standard deviation is 15. That means about 95% of a population is between 70 and 130.

My understanding is:

>70 is mental retardation
>100 is below normal intelligence
<110 is intelligent
<130 is gifted
people who get >140 or more are freaks of nature, anomalies. You are talking about a proportion that makes up <<1%.

I would not trust online IQ tests these have absolutely no credibility.

mensa is 140, and to quantum, turn your signs around, you're saying that LESS THAN 140 is genius:P

would a person's IQ increase if he does the same test 10 times?

With an ENTER of 99.70 and an MBBS (Bachelor of Medicine Bachelor of Surgery?) I really wouldn't be complaining about what I'm putting on my resumé.

I'm pretty sure people with IQ's like that could go straight to uni doing some accelerated degree underneath a professor and get like a PhD when they are 19 (maybe younger).

One of my mates was telling me that someone from his school left and started a bachelor of science degree at melbourne uni.

To be fair he was good enough to have more or less finished the Methods course (with a private tutor) in his year 8.

I thought 140 represented the top 0.25%, which was far above the cut off for MENSA.

Ah well. I wish I'd gotten an official IQ test done when I was younger :( The only ones I've done are the ridiculous online ones.
