I heard something about MW2 making it so you can only access their server in US or something? as opposed to other people hosting around the world so you can connect to something hosted closer ( but still through the network).

What I heard is that they are introducing a matchmaking system and removing the ability to create dedicated servers. Apparently this has caused some uproar amongst the community who think that its just a cheap way of making the PC game more like a console equivalent.

I would also presume this bums out Australians because it means instead of choosing servers where you get low ping, you'll be forced to play in games which the matchmaking system deems as "fair" - usually meaning you will be playing in a game hosted by someone from the US.

Oh yeah and I don't get that article when we have games like Counter Strike which could also be deemed as "glorifying terrorism".

They removed dedicated servers (ie. letting GameArena or Internode or other private companies host) and yes, they've got their own servers which you connect to. You get no options of which of their servers you want as you automatically get connected to one based on your skill level and server preferences (team deathmatch, hardcore TDM etc). I'm pretty sure they'll set up a few servers in Sydney so us Aussies don't get shit like 200+ ping and waste a whole 50 round P90 clip just to kill one person.

Oh and boo hoo. Here we go again. Don't tell me they're going to disallow sales of MW2 or something (I cbf reading the article).

I've seen the video of the supposed "outrage". Yes, it's crazy and yes, some people may find it disturbing. However, developers give players full warning before the segment "You're about to enter a sequence which some players may find disturbing etc." and they give you the option of skipping it.

(For those interested, you're a CIA agent undercover as a terrorist and in order to get to the "big boss", you have to just go along with their activities  which in this case, involves arriving at an airport full of innocent civilians and mowing them down along with your terrorist buddies with a machine gun. Yep.)

Kinda only reason I don't wanna get this game.
