Brain and Nervous System practice questions

This is a document of practice questions, which are arranged by topic.

This is a very useful resource (especially if you don't have checkpoints). I'd recommend you start doing practice questions for the topics you've covered now. VCE psychology requires that you to answer questions in a specific way, so if you are aiming for 40+, you need to start familiarising yourself with the format of questions and the best way of structuring answers.

Hope it helps.

Well you don't have to print it out. Grab a sheet of paper and write the answers on that sheet, whilst staring at the screen for the questions.

I've found some review worksheets for the Grivas textbook:

don't have the password for solutions though :(

Nice...

I just have a gripe at this question

Question 8
The process of relaying information from one neuron to another is known as
A.   reception.
B.   selection.
C.   action potential.
D.   transmission.

I don't think that's really covered in Unit 3 topic, particularly this topic.

Strictly speaking it is off the study design, although in terms of visual perception, it still kind of is something you need to know (as in, the 'transmission' phase of visual perception). I think it's a grey area.

I mean you only really need to say the optic nerve transmits the energy from the ganglion cells to the occipital lobe (my opinion anyway), without mentioning the exact way it does so.

In any case, it's good to know.
