WOW to elaine!

In year 11:
Legal Studies - 37 (scales down 3)
Chinese Second Language Advanced - 38 (scales up 7)

The scaling guide is provided from a friend who had low 30s in both these subjects.

edit: looked at the scaling report and legal doesn't scale down 3 =)

thanks sheepz and odette  :)  my first thought reading the SMS was that the 50 was some weird code to enter into the site to get my real study score lol

Awesome work Elaine
50 in Busman is a great setup for year 12.!
oping for an ENTER of 99+

eriny, well done on your marks. you're still trying to get into PhB arts, aren't you? you should fax them your UMEP result, because it was clearly quite excellent. i don't your ENTER won't immediately get you in - for PhB science, there were 3-4 people with ENTERs below 99, but the rest were above - but your UMEP score will definitely help you, as will a good application form (good references and all that).

Oh wow, thanks. I actually thought that the PhB was completely out of the question now. I faxed my UMEP results to them on Thursday :) so I guess I can still hope?
yeah, you can definitely hope. i'm not sure how difficult it is to get into PhB arts - science has like 30 people getting through each year, but i think it's only about 10-15 for arts. but i'm guessing arts has much fewer applicants...

but yeah. you'll be on the fringe, probably...

What's this phb thing? Don't think my sister has talked about it, but she wants to do science and got 99.35.

it's only at ANU in canberra, so unless she wants to move cities it's doubtful she'd have applied for it.

but yeah, PhB science = best science degree in the country. it's courses + research at an undergraduate level for high achieving students (99+).
VCE 2006
PhB (Hons) (Sc), ANU, 2007-2010
MPhil, ANU, 2011-2012
PhD, Princeton, 2012-2017
Research Associate, University College London, 2017-2020
Assistant Professor, University of Virginia, 2020-

Feel free to ask me about (advanced) mathematics.

i'm a little confused. did you live in canberra during year 12, or in victoria? or did you move up there recently?
I'd never heard of this course, and being a science-lover, I guess you must be stoked to be doing the "best science course" in Aus at the best uni in Aus.
Their course outline puts monash's Science adv. with honours to shame   :-[ ...
2006: Engineering Studies 45 (Premier's Award), Religion and Societies 39
2007: Methods 45, Spesh 46, Chem 50, Physics 41, Literature 39, MUEP Maths 5.5
ENTER: 99.60
Science/Engineering @ Monash; Mat'ls Eng; Chem, Physiology?

i lived in melbourne, but moved to canberra for university.

and yeah, it is an awesome course. i have a friend doing science adv. with honours at monash (leachy, from BoS) and we've compared courses a fair bit - his falls well short. then again, his scholarship is better...

"A student with a VCE study score of 40 has performed better than about 91% of all students who did that study."

Makes you realise just how hard it is to crack that 40, doesn't it?

Got a 44, hoping for higher but looking at the big picture it would of added .2 aggregate marks overall so not too peeved.

Awesome work guys ;D I'm especially happy for those who got higher than expected. Cara.Mel, Ahmad, Spirited Sloth, Goosefraba, astarel: you can't be modest now ;)

astarel, how did your sister go, curiously? Mine beat me, 99.35 and dux -aww im so proud of her, no envy really :)

my sister got 98.95 which she was happy with because it's a really good score, but slightly disappointed that she was so close to 99.  she got a 5.5 bonus for UMEP which she was really happy with.  apparently she's the first person from our school to get a 5.5 bonus since 1996!

speaking of sibling's completeing yr 12, of the three sets of twins in our yr level at school, one representative from each set recieved an ENTER over 99 (99.65, 99.35 and 99.15) and the other didn't (98.95, 98.80 and 98.95 - matching up in order).  as someone from work said "how's that for sibling rivalry?"  kinda freaky lol

It was funny seeing FSNERs dominating 45+ sections.
