hey
im doing biology this year.
For proteins, my teacher is going in depth with it. Teaching us DNA,RNA (its functions),dna structures.. and also a big one enzymes. Also what textbook are you using?

i'm also not sure how in depth you need to know.

someone please answer jaja's question.

I would say go in depth. I don't reckon they'd ask an extended response question on it, but there might be a multiple choice question on it in the exam, asking something to do with the roles of mRNA or tRNA, etc, which might require an in depth knowledge of protein synthesis to be answered.

So yes, unfortunately, we should learn it all in detail. Bit of a drag, I know...lol.

I'd say just learn it all and not take your chances. Besides, knowing it all helps you piece together what's strictly on the syllabus much easier.

They can ask you about the types of RNA and their role in protein synthesis, not in detail but in general. So you should know that. You should also know words like transcription, translation and codon. This is in depth in Unit 4 if you are looking for part of your textbook to help you.

You don't really need to know it in to much detail for unit 3, but you do need to know it fairly well for unit 4. So best bet is just learn it well this semester to save time next semester ;)
