i do'nt think i did well in my methods so if i got 39 i don't think i have the privelige(how u spell that damn word?!)  to teach.
LOL maybe $5 an hour.=.=
i dont see why you wouldn't. A 39(raw) certainly means you understand pretty much the entire course and to be honest people aiming higher won't exactly need a tutor. So yea if you can convince people to come to you for tution then go for it and teach

i don't know how to ask my friends if i can tutor them -a bit strange?!

I reckon you could tutor if you got 39, because really, people want someone to explain the course to them in normal language - not like the Essentials course and sometimes help them out with challenging questions. You could definitely price higher than $5.

Hi all.

After a bit of searching its gone pretty good
Most employers want qualified teachers, others dont.

I am just wondering, if I am WORKING FOR a company....how much is my pay....I am too embarrassed to ask, like i WANT TO ask BEFORE i agree to working, but I am getting conflicting views.

Some pplz tell me, u have a right to ask, and u SHOULD,
Others are saying its rude to ask, since they think u only care about the money.

So if any1 could give some ideas on how pay would work, since MOST tutors charge $20-30, some $50, I would get half/less than half of that since some is kept for the actual company as profit.

What about me =(

Would a company actually hire you? Wouldn't they need to make sure you're of a high enough standard otherwise they can't charge a decent price? if you don't have experience, not much of a reputation, I don't see it being too likely that they'll want you. They could also be afraid that a new tutor could "harm" their reputation if they're not very good. If they normally charge $40-50/hour, they can't really do that with a new tutor without knowing anything. Say they did take you in and charged around $20-30, you'd prob get $10-15 an hour I'd say.

^ well so far so good ><

They requested to look at my VCE results, and I would assume there is training.

Lol, I got 39 for methods. I haven't been able to start tutoring! I hope that parents don't think a 39 is 39% :S

I really want to be a tutor, the only problem is that parents demand experience (how can you get experience if you can't find anyone to tutor?). In Melbourne Uni, students have access to a careers database that has a few people needing a tutor. Anyway I have applied to tutor someone with year 11 maths (quite vague, is it General Maths Advanced, General Maths or Methods) and physics. I also included my uni results for university level maths and physics.

The fact is that with tutoring it beats working in retail, a caffe or some fast food restraunt since you are sharing your knowledge of a subject with people and I would love it if a student of mine increased their grade average thanks to my help.

*gives a pat to the back/ hand shake*

THIS IS WHAT I TOLD MY PARENTS!!!!

They really were a bit "err" about the whole tutoring thing for me, they wanted me to get a "real job"....I had previously worked in retail at 2 places, and tbh I did not enjoy it towards the end.

My parents thought it was a good chance to "meet people" and "gain experience" but one can only sustain enough hell....

I found it lame and stupid "next please".... for gods sake.... thats sure to look sexy on ones resume.

My interest to tutor is to MAKE A DIFFERENCE, I really understand now what teachers mean that their best present is to see their students succeed.

I couldnt think of a better part time job than TEACHING, HELPING someone in education!!! YOU know the subject, so SHARE IT!!!!

I sound so hypo, but gee's I am atm! Now if only I can find people who need tutoring... LOL, thats a different story.

You could get experience by tutoring at the Melbourne Uni Summer School? I'm pretty sure that's like voluntary work, but you get experience.

I enquired about this, but I think it may be too late to apply now.

Nam Quang tuition hires anyone with a reasonable ENTER

my experiences with Nam Quang tuition include the "English tutor" talking about how he corpse camped in WoW.

That's what you get when you pay 5 bucks an hour for tuition.
