as we said earlier though, your atar isn't even taken into consideration for the interview stage.  it purely based on your umat result whether or not they give you an interview.

and yeah, i personally don't mind the idea of the umat, but many people would think it's not fair because everything comes down to a single test whereas for a study at least you work hard all year.

it's wierd how the health/sciences umat has nothing really medicine related on it lol.

also, at least hopefully acer can write a paper without screwing up the questions!

@ superflya

just a wild guess, but i'm guessing they would ask you why you wan't to study medicine for.

also, there are 122 questions on this years umat in total.  assuming they are all weighted equally, how many do you think we could get wrong to get in the 100 percentile and the 90th percentile?

apparently this year the interview format is being changed, so as of right now we don't exactly know until they give us more info.

i hope this is false as the previous format has worked fine and i quite like it, there are three parts to it:
* basic questions: why do you want to do med, ect.
* detech: they give you a complicated word and you must explain it in simple terms
* scenario, where you read a scenario or they tell it to you and then you answer questions on it.

yeah stonecold- the umat is unfair for some people but those who do well it's very fair to them;)
and i know, unlike the english version of the UMAT, there is no bio/chem on it! quite silly if you ask me... but its so people who dont do chem/bio can do it with no disadvantage compared to the chem/bio students.

since after scaling the whole thing is marked out of /300
and ~210 is 100%ile.. which is around 70% after scaling, so you can lose quite a few marks but its hard to do well.
this was said somewhere, "getting 75% on the test is a very good score"

and 90%ile is around 180/300. but all scaled so we can't know for sure

haha, imagine if you get like every single question right.  you should get an mbbs as a prize lol.

what is the scaling exactly?

do they just multiply the marks to get it out of 300, or is it more complex?

it's very complex, unless i'm wrong, no one knows exactly how it's done..
but getting 200+ is very difficult and very good.

it's scaled according to a ranking system so that getting a certain percentile corresponds to a certain score out of 300.

yeah the umat is intense. no one knows how it is marked.
You can end up with >100% if you do awesome i believe; but overall its just really random, as questions, sections, are all werighted differently in some cases. on top of that, different universities place different emphasis on different sections.
