Far out my English teacher this year is so harsh, she only gave out 1 A+ on the most recent SAC, so I really hope our exam pulls up our SACs greatly

hmm...what school...if it is a generally strong school it is likely the SACs will be scaled up a lot

but if you do crap on sacs throughout the year and do better in the end of year exam, i got told that all your sac marks will be boosted and your study score will go up dramatically O.o

My understanding of the system is that your SACs are moderated by the performance of you (and your school) on the VCAA exams. Because of this I think your SACs end up counting for very little relative to your exams (at least for the subjects I'm doing). I know quite a few people who did quite average on their SACs but well on their external exams and ended up getting 45+ study scores.

Although others have made valid points, it doesn't mean that you can get complacent with your SACs though. My friend only lost one mark in the English exam and ended up with below 40 despite the fact that such an exam score normally would have got him a 50 solely because he screwed up his unit 4 SACs as a result of complacency.
Is that maybe because English is a lot more competitive? So that losing even 1 mark on SACS or whatever, makes you fall below like 1000 people in ranks (for example)?. But you're right.

Then again, for some of my SACS i haven't done the best I could simply because many of them were badly written and "experiments", so I am really looking at the exam to help boost me up, because I know I can do it :(

Nah, he literally got like straight D's so yeh, wasn't anything about competition. Just outright cbf.

It can be done.

Last year I got 40 in legal studies with:
GA1: A (A average in SACs for unit 3)
GA2: A (A average in SACs for unit 4)
Exam: A+ (I don't know how high the A+ was but I assume mid-A+)

if there is only like 1 A+ and 2 As in a class you could assume that moderation would lift it up, not much to worry about. Although how can you tell if your class/cohort is capable?

Ok this I slightly off topic, but not really. It's about study scores.

SS is derived from your (SAC) ranking and Exam Score.
Your SAC score is the same score as whoever got in the same position for their exam.
Say you get 1st in SACs then the 1st Exam score in your cohort (The best exam score in your cohort) is your SAC score. Your SAC score is also moderated further if the circumstances indicate that u dont deserve a great SAC score. ie you are completely clueless for the exam...etc

bad news five cent. for legal i was getting 18,19,20/20 for sacs. i dropped 3.5 marks in the exam and got 45. but in english, i got 2 A+'s and 3 A's for sacs but still got 50. english is more dependent on your cohort (a kid got 43 at my school and only got A on the exam)

if the highest SAC mark is 75% in the cohort...does that get standardised to 100% by my teacher?
