lol it sucks if you get 100% and you are in a strong cohort, where even 90% can go to 100%

still, better safe than sorry

Is it true you need A+ in every single SAC of a 3/4 subject to get 40+
Is there anybody who has achieved a high score (40+) but they didn't get A+ on every single SAC (not including those at mhs or other schools were SACs scale up ridiculously)

And I mean your individual school SACs grades not the adjusted grade you get from VCAA on December the 15th along with your study score

For psych we had 6 SACs...i got A for the first one and A+'s for the rest. My cohort was terrible. For eg. in one of my SACs i got 86% the next highest score was 70%. In the mid year i got a high A+ but in the end of year im sure i got a really low A+. I think, as a result of my SACs, my mark got boosted and got me a 44.

so the competition at mhs and mac.rob would be very intense? but how do they manage to excel all schools (they must be extremely smart)

MHS/Macrob are selective schools. It is not fair to compare MHS/Macrob with normal schools, academic lvl is naturally higher from selection process.

No, you dont need A+ for every assessment. EG: last year in business management ( My school is shit, like bottom of the state), heaps of people got A+ on their sacs, and ended up with < 40.
Someone else who had A sacs and obviously did well on the exam got a 45.

As a matter of curiosity, does MHS get English SACs scaled up as much as it does for other subjects, seeing as English isn't one of MHS's strongest subjects

I don't think they would. However, the English dept at MHS tends to spread the SAC marks more than other depts. For example, if you got 70% on a maths SAC at MHS it would be an A (school SAC mark before moderation). But 70% on an English SAC would probably be a B.

I don't think this actually affects your moderated mark though. It's the rank in the cohort that counts, not your grade. So the maths dept could give 50% of the cohort As, but VCAA would only look at their ranking, not their letter grade.

Isn't the point of the school giving letter grades just to give you an idea of what your likely end-of-year mark would be? I don't think VCAA allows the school to tell students their ranking in the cohort.

Also, the English marks at MHS were screwed up last year, due to the context. I know quite a few guys who were expecting 47-50 but ended up getting 42 or 43. Hopefully they will have a better idea what to do with context this year.

Are SAC's for all subjects out of 200? And what is considered an A? At my school an A is 90-94 and at some other schools it's 80-89. Kinda confusing.
2009:
Math Methods: 35 [41]
Vietnamese: 22 [26]

2010:
Chemistry: 40+
Physics: 45+
Specialist Maths: 40+
English: 45+
Japanese: 30+

Hopefully: 99+
Ambition: Medicine, Pharmacy or Radiography.

Ignore the above. I've failed Year 12 and life. I've had an epiphany... I'm destined to become a gigalo.

if you screw up your unit 3 sac scores, but do well (cos your putting effort in) in unit 4 and do good on the exam, whats the likely result of it all?
eg if you like get C's or something in the sacs then get A/A+ in unit 4 and exam?

Depending on what subject it is, the most likely result is that your chances of getting a raw score of 40+ will be very slim but a 30-35 may still be achievable.  That would be my prediction.

but if you do crap on sacs throughout the year and do better in the end of year exam, i got told that all your sac marks will be boosted and your study score will go up dramatically O.o

Far out my English teacher this year is so harsh, she only gave out 1 A+ on the most recent SAC, so I really hope our exam pulls up our SACs greatly
