A FURORE has erupted over a new mini-series about the deadliest sniper at Gallipoli, Chinese-Australian Billy Sing, who is played by a Caucasian.

On a more serious and slightly tangential note, it's interesting how he is given a 'hero' status for killing over 200 people (To put that in perspective, the Port Arthur Massacre claimed a comparatively 'mere' 35 lives and is regarded as the worst massacre in Australian history) whereas had that happened anywhere other than in war he would be considered Australia's worst mass murderer.

Billy Sing didnt look that Chinese to me, i dont mind that he's played by a white Australian. His father however, should have been played by an asian man ;/

Don't mind the fact that Billy is played by a white person (half-Asians are difficult to find, obviously), but to make the drama about the historical figure of Billy Sing whilst having his father being played by a white person does seem rather suss.

To put it in perspective, imagine if they did a film about Abe Lincoln, and they had an Asian guy playing him.
