hey guys, I've just got a SAC tomorrow on this topic. already got a few arguments, but a few more can't hurt :D

so anyway, do you think its fair that asylum seekers are being treated better than australian homeless people?

I don't think it's fair that most are treated worse than prisoners when they never actually broke any Australian law, but that's a different story I suppose. If you look at it that way, prisoners are treated better than the homeless. It's a stupid question imo

Also, the article makes it sound like a lot of them are children. If a child was homeless, you'd want that child to have whatever accommodation was available.

I remember reading about a story in America, a homeless man robbed like a petrol station convenience store just so he would go to jail. Apparently he reasoned he's get 3 square meals a day in prison and a decent bed to sleep in and he even told the judge this, he ended up in prison.

what u gotta remember is that most homeless australians have been helped by the government before (centerlink) but did not spent their money wisely so they werent given any more money...
