Several parts of this statement confuse me.

I think he's referring to General Mathematics (the pre-requisite into Specialist Maths) and comparing that to Methods.

Ding ding ding, correct :p

Hmmm, I don't think complex numbers were part of our Gen Maths schedule... although since my class had spare time we learned it anyway.

there was a complex number chapter in the GEN book? huh?
PhD @ MIT (Economics).

Interested in asset pricing, econometrics, and social choice theory.

Err General Math Methods (like I said before, our school named it different for some reason)...one that goes into Speesh...it was our first topic lol.
