From memory you can still get HECS-HELP on full fee places, but yeah...you still have to take a small mortgage worth of debt :(

I think the reason they have smaller classes etc is because no one has ~$260,000.
By the time you're a doctor, making money etc.. It will still take 10ish years to pay ~$260k off.
Its really fucking stupid, like WTFEK.

It will take longer since you would undergo internship resident then you would specialise in which that can take up to 1-5 years... Though you earn quite a bit in your internship/resident years

But then after your post graduate research (6-7 years?)... you'll earn like 500k+?

post graduate research?
after internsip you will be in residency and then applying for colleges to train to be a physician or surgeon, and then further specialise after a few years at basic level to advanced. the entire time studying AND working, you will not be making anywhere near 500k+ for a many, many years after graduation and only that much really in private practice or possibly in some fields like radiography. most doctors do not ever own that much though... the average maximum for a medicial practitioner is ~300k

Correct me if i'm wrong but... isn't it ~4 years undergrad degree => 4 years MD => 1 year internship => 6-7 years post grad research?

what's the research?
it's any medical program, whether it be post grad (7years) or undergrad (5-6 years) and then 1 years intenship, then residency for 1-2 years, then your college while working to be a phyisician/surgeon for 3 years at basic level then apply for advanced training, and so on.
research is an optional thing people do usually when they are specialised in a field..

*blinks* isn't after graduating from MD means you can just be a GP?

Then you need to do research to be a specialist doctor? (where the money is)

Uhh..you mean further study? Then yes. It's not research... And you can't even be a GP after graduating from a MBBS/MD. GP is a specialty in itself.

you clearly haven't been researching what medicine is much have you... maybe go search around and see what being a doctor is all about before you apply/repeat the year or whatever -__-
