I don't think there isn't a single person here who doesn't think that all of these arguments are completely bonkers. All of your 'evidence' is based on crafty wordplay and absurd conjectures, not one of which can be proven.

1) Prove that Adam was born 20 years old. Prove that Adam even existed! "The bible says so" is not a valid answer.
2) Your nonsense about the universe being created fully formed is a conjecture. Prove it.
3) Prove that the moon naturally emitted its own light at one time. Also explain, in detail, how this natural light source was extinguished.
4) At various points of hte year, the moon becomes much larger and much smaller as the orbits progress. This entire argument is retarded. "The moon and the sun appear relatively the same size in the night sky, THEREFORE IT MUST BE GOD" is so devoid of logic that I do not even have words to express how retarded the statement is.

You may be wondering why I left out the bit about plants. It is because I wanted to save it to last to make a point.

A good question, which I have wondered myself previously. I don't have a good answer right now, but I will search for one.

This is exactly why you have zero critical thinking skills. You cannot even entertain the idea that you are wrong and that god does not exist. You'll search for evidence which matches your world view but reject, even without proof, or a reasonable answer, any material which rebukes that which you believe.

You have zero logic, zero critical reasoning... you have been robbed of your ability to truly question the veracity of that which you have been taught, and this is exemplified in that statement.

A "miracle" has no scientific bases whatsoever. Miracles are by definition unexplainable by science. How then does that contribute to the advancement of scientific knowledge in any way, shape or form?

If only the Torah actually possessed the secrets of manipulating foetal DNA without doing anything invasive - which according to you, it should.

What I don't understand is if the Torah is infinitely large, then how can it be exactly 3200 times larger than the universe?

The universe is 'finite' in size since it is expanding and expanding something infinite in size makes no sense. So if the Torah is 3200 times larger than something finite in size then it itself is finitely large.

Now we all know that there are infinite many integers and infinite many real numbers, but the real number infinity is larger than the integer's infinity. Why since we can't assign every real number an integer. But then to ask 'how many times larger is the set of real numbers compared to the integers?' is a stupid question.

Well, AFAIK the bible makes no mention of that whatsoever, so making an assumption like that would not be reading it literally.

EDIT: apparently ribs can grow back! LOL http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20070725110941AAlLVju

I approve of yahoo answers as a source of information! (okay not in this specific instance but generally)

Some of them are batshitinsane, but some are actually reasonable. Anyway, until we prove otherwise, I'm perfectly willing to entertain the idea that it's possible. Not my personal belief, but I don't think that dismissing the existence of some form of God is a great idea.

Also one question for Yitzi_K, what's the deal with inserting the hyphen for the O? Disrespectful or something?

e, you people need to stop posting, i had to hit the post button about 3 times lol

Hrmm this reminds me of my year8 days where i still gave a fuck about eucilidean geometry:

proof that 3<pi<4:

pi is the area of the unit circle. Inscribe a 12-sided polygon(yes i forgot what they are called, maybe the Torah Powar can remind me). The area of this is 3. Therefore 3<pi.

Now circumscribe a square, it is 2*2=4. Thus 3<pi<4.

Fuck me I've got Torah Powar

How is babby formed?

3) Prove that the moon naturally emitted its own light at one time. Also explain, in detail, how this natural light source was extinguished.
Or better yet explain what produced the light.

How can you say you have to read the Torah literally which states that but then you say you have to read between the lines to get a proper approximation?

Pi DOES equal 3, correct to one significant figure. It is no more accurate to say that Pi=3.14159 than to say it equals 3, both are out by an infinite amount of figures.
Lets do this.
1 cubit = 0.4572 meters
30 cubits = 13.71600 meters
10 cubits = 4.57200 meters
The circumfrence of a circle is

Using the bible definiton of and the measurements of the circle I showed it myself using SI units.
Therefore the Bible and Torah state that pi = 3

I accept that I can't prove anything I said, because it is all based on the Bible, which can't be proven. Possibly. But you can't attack me for using the Bible as a source to answer questions on the Bible. If you're going to attack the Bible, then you've got to accept that the answers to those attacks are going to come from the Bible. It is illogical to assume otherwise.

In any case, everything I've said is true, and I will continue to believe that. You are all free to believe now whatever the hell you want, and ultimately we'll all find out the truth. You can call me close minded, and I really don't care, because at least my mind is closed around the truth.  8-)

Ahahaha, check and mate. You were fighting tooth and nail up until now. Why the sudden "yo back off it's just the bible you can't question it!" News for you, buddy, it is not reasonable not to question such outlandish statements, and your saying "YOU CAN'T QUESTION ME BECAUSE IT'S THE BIBLE AND THAT'S WHERE IT CAME FROM!" and that sort of circular logic does not fly in a forum of debate where logic and reason are prerequisite axioms. So on with the questions.

You weren't using the bible as a source to answer questions about the bible. You had this absurd notion that Science could be derived from it. When you enter an arena that values, at its core, logic and critical thought, and you attempt to bring "BECAUSE GOD SAYS SO" into the debate, prepare to have the intellectual shit kicked through you. Which is precisely why you have now capitulated, and been forced to put "possibly" in as small a font as possible to prevent further ridicule.

"I will continue to believe the bible is true." - "with no proof"

You can't have it both ways. You can't spout absurd shit and not expect people with actual critical reasoning skills to pick it to pieces and show it for what it is - fairytale.

And again, how can you know it's the "truth" when you yourself have said you haven't got one. single. shred. of evidence?

That final quote,
Quote
You can call me close minded, and I really don't care, because at least my mind is closed around the truth.  8-)

is the biggest copout I've ever witnessed, and brings to mind a guy burying his head in the sand and singing "LALALALALA I CAN'T HEAR YOU LALALALALALA"

I never said you can't question the Bible. I just said that if you do question the Bible, then you have to accept that the answers will come from there. You can't say 'why does the Bible say x' and then when I answer 'because elsewhere it says y' you then say, 'but you can't prove that'. It says x because it says y, and either both are true or neither are, so you can't attack saying x and then ignore saying y.

I do admit that I've capitulated in this argument, quite possibly I've completely lost it. However, I don't believe I lost it because I'm wrong, it's because I'm fighting 8 versus 1 against some very intelligent people, and in all honesty I simply don't know enough about either side of the argument to continue. If someone else far more intelligent, and with far more knowledge, than me were to take up my side of the debate, I am confident it would and could be won.
