Watching Tony Abbott on the 7.30 report is the most entertaining thing i have seen all election campaign... he makes so many mistakes and says so much stuff that he shouldn't, i reccon the one thing that has changed in the last few months is that he has become more likeable because he make so many more slip ups and looks so much more human than julia. just my thoughts.

Well, in this context of anti-intellectualism, he wouldn't want to sound like a nerd, would he?

someone teach him to tie windsor knots please..

Andrewloppol I've been practicing it too, do you know the difference between double windsor and standard windsor? I think Abbott may be failing at doing a half windsor, or just a crappy double knot. You should read American Psycho or watch the film he talks a lot about the variation of tie knots.

Are you sure, didn't he say something about politicians not telling the truth all the time? :P

Yes which makes him honest-he admits sometimes that politicians don't tell the truth. It is heavily ironic how the Labor party use this statement of his to besmirch the Liberal Party-it was even on a campaign ad! As if Labor were that honest!

No, he said something like "you can't take what I say for gospel unless it's a formally pre-prepared statement".

Besides, do you really think that at the end of the day that any politician is going to be completely honest? I mean really, when opinion polls count for so damn much, politicians risk losing their job if they're going to be honest all the time. An honest politician would be a very stupid politician.

that's why there should be a high turn over rate... because we need more honest politicians who are not focussed on being reelected
but sigh that will hardly happen with the mindset we have now, so we pretty much deserve everything that happens to us (even internet "filtering") since we elect them

Politicians are going to be judged on everything they say, but sometimes, in the heat of discussion, you go a little bit further than you would if it was an absolutely, uh, calm, considered, prepared, scripted remark. Which is one of the reasons why, the, the the statements that need to be taken absolutely, as, as gospel truth is those carefully prepared, scripted remarks." - Tony Abbott
