apparently the eye of the world from the wot is going to be a movie

I heard this as well, not sure how they're going to do it and all, with it being 13 odd books long

If you just read Soul of the Fire, you've got Faith of the Fallen next (I really shouldn't know this haha) which is considered to be either his best work or his worst, depending on who you ask. So look forward to that I guess. The final book in the series is also pretty decent.

me neither... theres really no details on it but it would be awesome cause i love moiraine too bad she dies.. but im not expecting it to follow the books to the tee

yeah im into the faith of the fallen now... richard is going to meet nicci
yep looks good so far
btw kahlan in con dar.... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3-IIJPITs6E
and this one ... oh painful...http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ScWlZmH1lts
love it though wasn't like in the books =(
that looks pretty funny to be honest.

I want to know how they diagnosed Catalus with TB...

And yeah, game of thrones got picked up by HBO and I'm hoping that this will prompt George to actually finish his series (it's been 5 years, with him claiming every year that it'll be published that year)

You guys don't look like you're discussing literature anymore lol but I'll just say anyways:

I really, really like certain fantasy novels when done right. For example, Diana Wynne Jones is my fantasy god. Not just the mainstream Howl's Moving Castle but also Fire and Hemlock and things like Hexwood which are extremely complex but fascinating.
I'd like to read Russian literature afterwards just for the experience. Not sure if I'll like it, but Anna Karenina was good. I think I read it a bit too young though... 15. So I may need to re-read that first.

Unfortunately, he died at the age 44 from tuberculosis (TB, olololol, piss off).

Why has TB claimed the lives of so many writers/poets?

I know right. TB is sooo last century. Everyone has consumption these days. I would tell you what disease I hope to die of but you probably never even heard of it.

To answer your question, death by TB is romantic.

ahh.. all this talk of books is getting me salivating for the holidays. nothing like having a good read,

yeah i am keen to finish brothers karamazov because ive heard such great things about it and ive read and loved crime and punishment and notes from the underground.

Also @EZ, read dracula if you havent already. Its similar to, althought probably not as great, frankenstein, and i love it.

Who here has read any burroughs or kerouac? If you havent, give them a look, i highly recommend them, especially kerouac's on the road. one of my faves

I haven't read On The Road, but it's floating around my house somewhere. I feel that I'm prejudiced against it because of all the irritating beatnik styled comments I keep hearing :(

read on the road. if you enjoy it, read the hippos were boiled in their tanks, and then read the naked lunch.

i love the beatnik stuff. being pretty much homeless and unemployed yet on always being involved in some crazy adventure. you just cant do that these days.

Also, anyone here a fan of hardboiled fiction, dashiell hammet, raymond chandler etc.? They are great reads, like kerouac and burroughs, they are pretty casual reads, but at the same time offer more stimulation than most of the other trashy stuff out there
