just curious, coz some of my friends spend way too much time on facebook and have dropped from As to Bs in a semester

another friend got 99.95 and chose to not touch facebook until finished VCE (said it was a massive distraction) -obviosuly helped him!

Stayed away from Facebook until the day after VCE and I definitely had much better time management than I do now, that's for sure =/ I think it's fine if you don't study next to a computer though since that's quite possible in VCE with a heavy reliance on textbooks. Studying now in uni for me almost inevitably results in some form of computer use so FB definitely gets very distracting....

I had facebook up until the end of term 3 when I realised it was simply too distracting. I stalked :P, played scrabble etc and was wasting a fair bit of time. So, currently I have been without it for about for about 10 weeks, I think, and I must say I am much more productive.

Now that I've gone without fb for a while now, I think that when I get it back (gave password to friend) I definitely won't feel I need to go on it as much.

facebook is bad in my experience, bunch of people I don't care about posting something absolutely worthless that I care even less about.

also, most unproductive thing ever. do not see the appeal

I didn't have a facebook account in VCE so I guess that helped with time management. I have one now but I don't use it all that often, mainly just for organising study groups and the like. Still it's on my list of sites that gets blocked on weekdays (along with YouTube and Wikipedia which are much bigger time wasters for me).

Yeah I do that as well... sometimes I even do something entirely pointless like clear out my old folders... it's a procrastination mechanism I s'pose

if you can resist, do NOT get into it before exam time or change password well in advance, but you should have it for year 12 then you can see events and stuff, and birthdays all that fun thinggg its so good socially, but terrible academically haha.

some people are unable to pull themselves away from it and it becomes the #1 procrastination tool. I personally don't see the appeal in facebook, but others find it fun. if it takes time away from study, it can be detrimental academic-wise
