Macbooks are great for uni - Slimmer design than most laptops, light, great battery life (5-6 hours) and it has very small battery charger (HP's and Tosihbas have chargers that are a size of a brick).

I'd recommend either 13 inch Macbook or Macbook Pro. I wouldn't recommend getting a laptop with a monitor screen >13' because there's not much table size in lecture rooms

hey guys, whats the battery life of a netbook like?

i've just got my hands on a samsung and just wanted to know what you guys thought of this model

Apple make a fortune every year just before the semester starts lol. If you guys want to wait until enrolling, most universities will have a licensed outlet that offers a discount. What I'm probably going to do

Really - for how much?

Yes Apple is the Prada of computers. I think it's the design and it's link with iTunes etc.

Seconded.  Definitely something that's aroused my attention since I'm looking for a lightweight laptop.  Carrying a brick around all day is not fun.

The new Dell XPS laptops seem fairly good. I had an old XPS M1530 and it was a beast. Ran every game (including Crysis) and this was like 3 years ago. Dell tend to be good-looking and fairly cheap, if you can find coupons that give you a discount. Worth a look in my opinion.
