I'm pretty bad because I never learnt the PLL's and OLL's for 3x3 but doing it the noob way I got it down to like 1min 20s.
My friend's in the 20s range, he's a beast!
With luck I can do the 4x4x4 in 15 mins LOL. I ceebs learning parity so I just jumble up the inner sides.

Your friend is certainly a beast! I don't think my method could ever get me 20s, my average being 50s-1min.

Still, world record is like 7.08 seconds... (yep, wtf?)

Yea but he did learn the methods which result in faster times, I think it was all OLLs and some PLLs which helped him get down to taht as well as practice. i take like a min to jumble it up LOL

I can't finish rubik's cubes.  I don't have the attention span.

^This. The satisfaction of organized colours isn't enough motivation for me, I don't think I've ever finished one.
lol yeah it's so boring, i can't be bothered playing around with it, although there are quite a fair bit of fun mathematics associated with rubik's cube :P

Maths? Really? I always thought it was just for fun and a challenge... (I suppose, deep down though, everything is maths)

I've attached a book which a few chapters is solely dedicated to the rubik's cube. Alot of combinatorial mathematics (one of my fave areas!) can be played around with the rubik's cube :)

I think i'm too n00b to understand most of this, but after reading the introduction, it is clear that there is certainly a lot of maths associated with the Rubik's cube (all various forms of it). We are surrounded by maths!

There is a fair bit of fun mathematics with everything :D
As for your attached PDF.. I won't even pretend to know what it's talking about.
Once again TT, you've shown VN how pro you are LOL.

P.S I like the quotes in there :D

That site is actually quite good, once you get used to all the acronyms :)

Sub-20s is so pro and 12 seconds is definitely international standard!

Cool upload... counting, groups, and more importantly theory for an experiment I can't be bothered performing xD

Just wondering what the PBs were around the VN community. I'm pretty slow, having best done it in 42 seconds (3x3). My time for a 4x4 was in hours, having only done it once  :(

How about everyone else?

Now 39 seconds! (as of two days ago actually)
