More than two-thirds of respondents to B’nai B’rith Anti-Defamation Commission survey says they have experienced or witnessed some form of anti-Semitism, including written material, verbal attacks and prejudice

"Students reported more widespread anti-Semitism at La Trobe University than at Deakin, Melbourne or Monash"
"The questionnaire also uncovered cases of faculty members using their positions to launch polemics against Israel or make anti-Semitic statements in ways which intimidated Jewish students. "

The full report is here:

"Finding seven: The political left, particularly the Socialist Alternative, and activist groups, particularly Students for Palestine, are the main source of antisemitic behaviour on university campuses."

I'm sure some of the Uni students on here can fill us in

I was at La Trobe in 2008 and the president of the uni's branch of AUJS said there had been only one reported anti-semitic incident during his tenure, (though I don't know exactly how long that was.)

My brother was once verbally abused by a University of Melbourne tutor in a Middle Eastern politics class for supporting Israel. I thought that was pretty disgusting.

There's heaps of Jewish kids at monash, no one seems to treat them any differently. In my experience anyway

Jew jokes are a form of anti-semitism, though often meant tongue in cheek. So it wouldn't surprise me if the levels were higher.

There's been a couple of times in my law lectures where Students for Palestine people come in before the lecture to deliver their spiel, and they've been booed because of the large number of Jewish law students in the room, it was lol

hmm
*goes to see if the lecture recording picked it up*

This isn't talking about jokes (which generally intend no malice). Incidents such as equating the swastika with the Star of David, and holding Jewish kids on campus personally responsible for the actions of the Israeli government (or insinuating that support for Israel is illegitimate) - is antisemitism. This is what the report discusses.

We boo them (no Jewish slant to the cohort) because they're interrupting our lecture *folds arms*

In London not too long ago, anti-zionists targeted a string quartet

They've obviously never met the deathglare of a law lecturer who's been interrupted

Is this against the law? Why don't they just go to the police and deal with this like any other issue?

Do you go to the police if you're bullied in the school yard? No - they don't normally handle something that they consider 'trivial'. You can be a pest and a menace within the confines of the law.

I realize the things you mention are obviously antisemitic, but so are jokes about Jews. Also I don't believe 2/3rds of students under any study would suffer to the extent to which you suggested.
