You guys say that Islam promotes harmony, yet we only Muslims behaving in a manner that is the polar opposite to harmony.

That's a bit ignorant imo, not all are bad.

My point was that it's claimed that Islamic faith in theory is supposed to promote harmony and all the passages shown in this thread paste it in this manner. But when you watch the news you see otherwise. The point is that those extremists are Muslim, they don't go by another faith. Is every Muslim involved in causing terror? No.

My discussion became heated when Muslims promote Islam as 'the' answer and even try to discuss the possibility of integrating sharia law into ours, when we are losing soldiers to extremists who would want the same thing.

sharia law can coexist peacefully with secular law. The empirical evidence shows, agian and again, that crimes rates are lowest in sharia law districts, but this is not to suggest that non-muslims must have sharia imposed on them, they will be permitted to drink alcohol, and worship their own religion, they have their rights.

Sharia law is outdated and inhumane, and I see no reason why a free secular society should choose to incorporate it. Who's gonna sit by and watch someone get their hands amputated for theft, or watch a muslim homosexual get stoned to death? In addition, what's to stop a muslim who has broken sharia law from claiming that they were never really a 'true muslim' to begin with?

It is a surreal, mad world where how one lives is dictated by their invisible friend in the sky.

Come to think of it, it would be a brilliant premise for a horror movie. Or a comedy.

If Australia was to incorporate sharia, which I believe is the best outcome if we truly want a multicultural society, then there would be separate courts, and separate punishments. You say that cutting the hands of a thieve is wrong? but what about their crimes? to steal from innocent citizens is to betray the hold words of the Quran, they must suffer the said punishment.

And dear freind, I do not disrespect you religion, nor your families heritage, so please refrain from critizing the prophet (peace be upon him) and Allah (peace be upon him), you would benefit much from not having such a dogmatic and narrow mindset about different faiths and cultures.

excuse me sir but unless your an Indigenous Australian, you should realist that the anglo-australian population imposed their religion on the 'true' Australians. Less than 70 years ago, enlightened Germans committed the worst crimes against humanity in history. Does the world hold an eternal grudge against them? Nope.
Germany today has no contemporary policy of discrimination. The Arab world does. If you want to delve into history, I can provide numerous examples of Muslim and Christian atrocities that are simply irrelevant to the current situation.
