Actually, look at any thread, they all go off topic very quickly.

True. This is a big problem. :knuppel2:
What can we do about this?

Stricter moderation.

EDIT: I myself have inadvertently been guilty of doing so, but I try to get back on topic as soon as I realise.

Given mine and Chavi's plans for the next few years, I have a feeling neither of us will be frequent posters from next year, so I'm not sure a religion subforum will be needed.

Also I don't understand why people have a problem with some heated debate. Granted when it gets personal it's not fun, but otherwise, what's the problem with a debate? If you're not interested in what's being discussed, view another topic.

Yitzi, I hate to repeat myself but...

I don't see what's so unhealthy about a religious debate. If you don't want to debate then don't view the forum?

It hijacks threads constantly, and has been happening even more lately. I keep reading threads to suddenly see the same few people arguing about religion. Example: The thread about the girl who couldn't take her girlfriend to the formal.

It's not healthy debate, its often unprovoked and makes it difficult for the OP to get what they wanted from the thread.

I think you're overreacting more than a little. Religion debates occur in perhaps 0.1% of all threads, and they are always in News/Politics/OGD threads which often have some relevance to religion anyway. In the thread you mentioned above, that had a connection to religion as there was an issue of whether the school took its position due to religious adherence.
