This just popped into my head (well i did buy a new keyboard today)

What does scroll lock do? Is that key important for any reason nowadays? If it doesn't do anything, what is the point of having it on keyboards?

and as an aside what does the pause/break button do?

Scroll lock's not really used anymore its just a remnant left over from IBM. It was originally meant to do what it says it does and lock the ability to scroll.

As for the break key http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Break_key

It is needed. 5 years down the track when all the other keys are worn, you can look at the break and scroll lock key and say 'that's what it used to look like' :P

LOL my "Caps Lock" key doesn't even work anymore. I don't know why - I have to hold "Shift".

I use caps lock instead of shift when I'm doing my capitals D:

Its my favourite function key :D Besides my macros and whatnot.
