They're mostly pyramid schemes that you should stay far, far away from.

My advice to you is to try it, BUT at the first sign that they want your credit card details or ask your friends to signup... That's the time to bail.

So... which one? :P

Well look you're obviously very curious but you seem intelligent. So just go and see for yourself. The first post was framed from a cautionary perspective, but now that you're aware of the risks so long as you exercise caution you can see for yourself where the scam is and how to avoid it. You shouldn't always believe everything you're told, so honestly go and see for yourself :P

I've also heard that people can drain out your bank accounts and stuff from just knowing some very minor details about you so i'm reluctant to even stay on their websites for more than a few seconds.

That honestly shouldn't happen unless they have your account number and PIN. What you might get is a trojan horse virus that will wait until you go and do your internet banking and record your info and send it back to the scammers.

Most of the sites that pay you a cent per ad clicked are legit in the sense that they won't steal your identity and they will pay up (eventually).

They make their money from a few things - firstly, the people who pay to have their ads viewed. But there's usually a minimum checkout of, say, $10 - at 1 cent a click this takes a long time to accumulate so a lot of people sign up, click the ads then never reach the minimum payout. Obviously the site makes a pure profit on that. And finally, they offer premium memberships for more ads etc.

If you want more than pocket change then you'll have to look elsewhere, or be more entrepreneurial (buy WoW, make gold, sell gold, profit)

The only survey companies that I've ever found useful are:
Valued Opinions
Lightspeed Panel

Both of these basically only involve doing surveys, and then once you reach ~$20, you can choose to get a gift voucher for Coles Myer, Rebel Sport etc
You get about $4 per survey, and I've done as many as 6 in a week (per website), so it's not bad for a little bit of extra cash that you can do alongside fb / vn etc

Check em out if you're interested...

Use your common sense. Do not give a credit card, do not send them any money. %99 or so are scams and a waste of time. If you want helping looking for a job PM me.

RewardsCentral is a legitimate site.

Overall though, you don't make a lot of money from any of these online sites...

I wrote a 70-ish page pdf guide to making money online 5-odd years ago, I'd be happy to upload/send a copy to you for free even though back then I intended on selling it.

Simply put, it is possible, but there is no simple ploy that will make you a steady income easily, at least, not without creating your own pyramid/snowball effect of your own.

Lightspeedpanel is legit. You need to get $5 to cashout via Paypal but IMO it's not worth it.
Just get a job :P

A bit of a gravedig but thought its relevant.

A lot of small companies hire tech savvy marketing students to manage their online presence for them. So if you're familiar with social networks, maybe some basic HTML and SEO you can make up to 35$ an hour just sitting at home.
