I would have assumed the driving test itself will justify the capabilities of a driver, I can also see how issuing a fine is okay but apart from that I don't think jail time is necessary if you falsify entries.

Obviously it depends on how big the falsification is, but if you're handing in a completely fabricated book that's pretty damn irresponsible. And as for the driving test, how many people book them in places like Melton or Bundoora because there are few traffic lights and hazards?

BUNDOORA WITH FEW HAZARDS!?  Ha.  I got two critical errors on my test because of hazards.
I had to practice for ages.  When the office used to be in Greensborough it was so much easier.  And Bundoora has a large residential area but if you get on Plenty Rd it can be scary trying to change lanes and U-turn...
The Thomastown area is dodgy and full of drivers who don't abide by the law who are hazards in themselves.

Nope but good luck, let us know how you go. Have you done your hazards already?

Thanks, I have the test at 8:30am so there won't be much traffic locally or on the main roads so that will be sweet :)

Oakleigh's routes are arguably the easiest in Vic. My instructor took me on all of them over the last few weeks leading up to the test so there was no area i wasn't familiar with.

OT: the guy took mine to another desk so i couldn't see what he was doing. Then he took it to another guy to ask some questions, so i shat myself... thinking it'd get rejected, but then he said it's all good. Then after the drive test, he said "you've obviously done the hours and not faked them like a lot of other people". Just do the hours, don't endanger yourself and other road users. My entire book was fake, but i actually did about 600 hours so it was the logbook check that was the hurdle. Just be smart about which office you book in and usually go around lunch time (mine was 1pm), there was no other cars on the road. Good luck!

My driving instructor told me that they look at the total number of hours at the bottom of each page, and if there's a massive jump on one page, they'll look closer, eg. if on most pages the hours increase by between 5-10 hours, then they come across one where you've gained 20 hours, they'll check over it.

WHYYYYWHWYHWY!  My friend failed in Carlton, evil.
But my instructor did tell me that even if you book in a rural area or somewhere with less traffic/hazards you are likely to fail because you've never driven on the roads before.

Lol... my logbook was about 4 pages in total. First page was about 10 hours, then each page after it was about 30.

It was my closest vicroads. And I couldn't resist the challenge haha. The test was actually way easier than I was expecting (didn't have to go into the city for a hook turn or down to Fitzroy) it was mostly in back roads around North Carlton. Made the same turn about 4 times :D
