it is true that going interstate will be hard, however we have discussed many ways to get around this.
firstly, optometry is not provided by any uni in melbourne unless you go through med at monash and specialise which is much more competitive or got through a uni of melb course which will take much longer but i may have to follow this option
i've been in contact with flinders uni faculty heads and they have informed of the various scholarships available, thus obtaining a high umat score assists in one of the scholarhsips that i am looking at. in terms of accomodation there are family friends i have that live close and have children that will be at flinders uni at the time i will go there (if i get in) so transport is not a problem either -> these are very close family friends and we have discussed with them about accomodation with them for my first year or so, i will also be able to work while i am in uni and i can take a loan. my parents are particularly struggling because of the mortgage and according to the bank this should be paid off by the end of the year, so we will be able to afford an interstate place by the time i am in uni.
yes it is true medentry is not the best option, and i would like to be able to rely fully on free resources, but optometry is something that means a lot to me and i am worried (especially due to relatives) that the free resources may not be enough for me to get the umat score i need
