Nobody's banning anything, you're free to go start religion threads :\ there's just barely any activity here let alone enough religion-related threads to warrant a whole subforum dedicated to it
Year 12 is such a depressing time for many VCE/IB/VCAL students. I think because of all the studying/working and just general distractions in life people nowadays often just forget the role that religion plays to living a good life for a lot of people.
I think most people need to believe in something spiritual even if the institution that is providing a person with this belief is a false religion. Opening a religion/society subforum on VN would certainly cater for those people out there that are more open-minded to the supernatural/spiritual world and are just seeking some answers to better their life. There are people who believe that science will never answer all of humanity's questions and hence this will naturally force and draw them to have faith in the legitimacy of a scientically unproven religion.
Also, I disagree in the notion that there's a lack of interest in religion on VN. Sure there are a lot of people out there who were not raised in a religious household and as a result are ignorant about the world's major religions and of the people who do follow these faiths however this does not mean that people are not interested in learning about these religions, asking philosophical questions as well as those involving ethics, perhaps to even find out if something is missing in their own lives. This would certainly create dialogue between people of different faiths and spread tolerance and open-mindedness.
Based on the polling so far, there seems to also be some demand for a Religion/Society subforum. Why should these people be denied the right to voice their opinions/questions? Though at the same time I think only certain types of questions should be allowed to be asked. In some religion forums, they also have this thing where once a member posts a thread a moderator has to check and read it before validating it to allow other members to see it. Maybe we could adopt a similar move considering the sensitive/emotional issues revolving religion.
