Quite the opposite, Dota is the original game. League of Legends was made based on Dota with a couple of changes. Also I can download Dota 2 but I didn't get an email for the key. It means I haven't got a key yet right? I don't want to waste time  downloading it if I can't play it yet.

Edit : Big news peps Dota 2 is more played than skyrim in steam atm and its in closed beta o.o...
its the 4th most just below cod.

Steam was probably like... hmmm, DotA 2? Is this really a good idea? Should we fund this project?

I can so see some guy being put in charge of making DotA 2 run successfully and being kept on an extremely tight leash and he'd have been sweating over making Dota a success so that his job would be sweet

and just a few months later it's in Closed Beta and it's their number 4 popular game.

They'd be kicking themselves for not doing it sooner I reckon :P

Speaking of closed BETA, any news on when it's officially being released?

Started playing DoTA this year, absolutely love Tiny but still trying to perfect an item build that has Bottle + Mana Boots.  Any suggestions?

Forgive my ignorance, but doesn't closed beta usually come before open beta? I think it is in closed beta now and soon open beta will be released, before the game gets finally launched?

Phantom lancers out yay.... And cant play cause of physics mid years T_T... btw if anyone is still searching for keys check your playdota account .. they are sending out keys like hotcakes these days..

Is Dirge, Meepo and Lanaya too much to ask for? Far out, they're never going to get released because they're so unpopular.

I just really want dirge!!...

I also am curious as to how they are going to release Meepo because his default hero select skills are F1, F2, F3, and F4... but I can now bind my courier to F2 (and I do!) so it'll be interesting to see what kind of intuitive option they come with to deal with it.

Is anyone finding that their ingame experience playing Dota to Dota 2 has changed drastically?

Pretty much all heroes, I can last hit about 50% more accurately with. If not more.

Some carries who I used to love playing, I now suck with. And some, I'm discovering are incredibly OP (namely Lycan).

Anyone else finding wierd quirks which they like/dislike about Dota 2 which shouldn't technically be any different from the first version?

The international 2 has finally been announced, it's gonna be held in Seattle (around August according to Luminous), the first team who has been invited is the chinese powerhouse DK, gonna be intense!
