Just a question, but what do you guys find so awesome about DotA, HoN, LoL, etc.?

I played a few times during yr11 english, but I seriously didn't find it to be that great... Maybe I need to play more? Is it really that fun?

btw, I'm not a "hater", just curious :)

Hardest game to learn. Once you know how, you can play it forever.

Why I like it: Every game is unique. It requires skill. It requires teamwork.

Probs not an RTS person. For all I know, he plays FPS just a little bit too much.

Well, I've played Pokemon, Dragon Age Origins and Skyrim, but that's the extent of my RPG gaming...

Console gaming... CBS. I might be moving out in a month, don't want to waste money on a console now!

Just keep playing. Don't give up. It takes ages to learn but its so fun when you know how to play. You really need friends to guide you but just check out forums and read guides. I remember in Year 7, the first time I played DotA I would go on the forums and found out how to play each hero. I wrote down on a piece of paper the skill build and item build of each hero and then I promised myself that I would play a game using every single hero. 95 days later (I played a hero a day and back then there were only 95 heroes), I can now play DotA.

And one last tip: If the title name says 'NOOBS ONLY', it's definetely not 'NOOBS ONLY' ;)

Learn from your mistakes. Don't be afraid to die. Think about why you died and how you could have avoided it.

You know how many enemies and allies are on the field. Keep tabs on everyone, be where you need to be. If it's night time and you can't see 4 enemies on the minimap, maybe it's time to be cautious.

Know when and how to use skills. If vary the timing of something by a few seconds, will it make the situation better or worse?

Know your own ability and power. Whether you're able to chase down an enemy safely, or survive an attack for long enough to counter. Whether you can save an ally under attack without feeding them another kill. Whether you should keep trying to escape someone chasing you, or turn around and make a last stand so that reinforcements can avenge you.

The basic skills such as skill builds, item builds, last hitting, warding and juking will come quickly with attention. The decision making skills are much harder to refine.

I guess since most of us are probably casual players, Bored Aussies

Beautifully said.
Also always have one eye on the minimap and don't rely on your team calling MIA, and always have a teleport scroll on you <- most important!

Bro, if you wanna learn LoL any time, feel free to hit me up. I play regularly with a lot of people from MHS - from Frosty to draphinix (DON'T REALLY WANT TO USE IRL NAMES) and anywhere inbetween. I'm always down for a game.
