for the acer prac test 1 i got:

sect 1: 28/44
sect 2: 34/40
sect3: 28/38

what kind of percentiles am i looking at?

and how to do people approach the pick the middle questions?
I just try to quickly figure out position 1 and 5 so they can be eliminated right away. Then (if this works) out of the three you have to chose from, you look at a couple of the components and try to discern a general pattern for them. The middle will be the one which is halfway between the other two.

ACER Practice Test 1:
Sect 1: 28/44
Sect 2: 37/40
Sect 3: 32/38

Today was the first time I attempted UMAT questions and section 2 and 3 were actually fun to do. Section 3 was like maths puzzles and section 2 was like understanding feelings which I felt was alright. Section 1 was hell. I despise reading, probably why I haven't even read the books for English yet. I also get confused rather easily in this part. Finished with around 10 minutes left excluding toilet/snack break.

Does anyone know what's the most likely percentile I'll be looking at? I'll attempt Practice Test 2 tomorrow.

Pretty happy with mine, just finished in time for S3 with a couple questionable that I hadn't completely worked, but nonetheless pretty happy. read below
S1: 39/44, 45 mins
S2: 36/40, 25 mins (pi and funky are right, it doesn't take long!)
S3: 34/38, full time

thanks!

I shat myself when I did my first Medentry Exam with all of the pick the middle Qs, so I've worked pretty hard on them to make it easier, and it looks to be working :) :) :)

Yeah, the medentry questions are pretty tricky, I actually got a couple of the ones on this paper wrong because I saw complicated patterns like when they move one then two then three then four, when the actual answers were simpler, because that's what I was used to from medentry. Needless to say, I've learnt my lesson.

ACER Practice Test 1:
Sect 1: 39/44
Sect 2: 38/40
Sect 3: 26/38

EDIT: did anyone submit their scores onto the Medentry LMS? What %tile did you people get?
A census taker once tried to test me. I ate his liver with some fava beans and a nice Chianti.

Yeah, but the percentiles were really dodgy due to people abusing it and probably just punching in all the right answers, so they're pretty useless.

Yeah, but from now on I solemnly swear that I will first look for a simple pattern, and then only in the absence of one shall I employ my newfound super sleuth skills to solve a question.

Does anyone have a list of techniques for section 3? For us poor people who didn't get the medentry stuff. :P

For pick the middle, sometimes you will clearly see that there's an element that is the same in 3 if the pictures but different in the other two, eg. Three arrows pointing left and two pointing right. In this case, the pattern would go left-right-left-right-left, so look for one of the three that fits between the two with right arrows then check that the two ends of the sequence work.
Also, sometimes things turn in angles that increase, so first 45°, then 90°, 135°, 180°. Similarly, shapes can move first one spot then two then three then four.

Were you guys doing Practice Exam 1 or Practice Exam 2?
In my opinion, the 12 Medentry practice exams were considerably more difficult than either of the two Acer exams.
Practice Exam 1 was definitely on the easy side of the spectrum (especially Sections 2 and 3). Practice exam 2 was slightly more difficult, but still easier than what I am expecting to encounter this Wednesday.
The following are raw scores for both exams, along with their respective percentiles, compared to other Medentry students:

Practice Exam 1.
Section 1: 42/44-98th percentile
Section 2: 40/40-100th percentile
Section 3: 36/38-96th percentile

Practice Exam 2.
Section 1: 38/44( Can't quite remember the percentile, but I'm pretty sure it was low 90's)
Section 2: 37/40- 94th percentile
Section 3: 34/38-89th percentile

Also, I read somewhere on an article that as a general rule of thumb, raw scores of 36, 35 and 33 ( as a minimum) for Sections 1,2 and 3 respectively are required for an interview at Monash. However, I'd probably take this information with a pinch of salt, as exam difficulty tends to fluctuate significantly and raw scores are not a good indication of performance.
