Have a look at Commerce/Law at Monash Clayton - the Round 1 and 2 ATAR scores are different...Whereas most of the other courses are the same.

Something interesting I found on the Monash Commerce/Law page - http://www.vtac.edu.au/cgi-bin/coursesrch/course.cgi?&coursecode=28341&year= If you go down to the middle band criteria, it says this:

Middle-band: A study score of at least 45 in English (any) = an aggregate 2 points higher. A study score of 40 in any of classical studies, geography, legal studies, history (any) or international politics: international studies, international politics: national politics = an aggregate 1 point higher per study. Overall maximum of 5 points; SEAS.

So the aggregate could potentially be increased by 5 whole aggregate points if these extra requirements are met (I think middle band is where the university is left with the applicants who are left over from those who are clearly-in with their ATAR and those who are way off..) So the middle band plus any potential SEAS applications and a place in degrees with these kinds of middle band requirements is pretty much guaranteed.
