Hey bit of a rookie question - I unenrolled then re-enrolled into French 7 cos I was being indecisive. Now I've lost my classes and can't enrol into any because they're full. I thought more were gonna appear today at 10am (there's meant to be more streams, like streams 7 and 8 ) but none did and now all I'm getting when I try to register in classes is this. (I can't click on that class btw it says it's full.)

Does anyone know what this means? Do subjects like French ever fill up completely?
Thanks in advance!

If you're enrolled in a subject then you have a spot in the class, so it's probably just IT being a nuisance. Email your supervisor/coordinator.

Has anyone else found that when they email the PTV Concession Form, there's no attachment? :/
Pls do not send me a pm about Aspire applications. The process has vastly changed since I applied.

Are you guys going to be mentors? I did the mentoring program, as a mentee and I found it super helpful. :) I hope you guys become great mentors.

That's great to hear! I'm looking forward to the training session, this seems like a really cool program. Also good to see that users on AN are becoming mentors as well! :)

I thought that was only for first year subjects?

Also the remaining 10% for my first year selective (mind brain behaviour) came out today I'm pretty sure and I'm so confused. At least, I was able to enroll in all these classes today that I couldn't yesterday.

Thanks guys anyway I'll contact them if shit doesn't sort itself out by friday!

Just to clarify: if I do the dip.lang does that mean all my breadth subjects will be dedicated to the language I'm learning?

Nope. Only a max of four can be. But you have to start the dip after you've done those four to be able to cross credit.

Oh ok thanks. So does that mean I could study two languages in my degree - one with the dip and the other with my breadths then?

OMGGGGG NOOOO WAYYY this entire time I thought this would be impossible at UoM. The world is truly a beautiful place god bless.

I'd love to do one Asian language and one European language. I've already selected Chinese, so for the latter I'm going to pick between French and Italian

Do French! Best language ever, great fun to speak - even moreso once you're proficient enough to familiarise yourself with French idioms and regional slang.

Don't listen to Alon, he doesn't even go here :p

Spanish is the way to go! It's pretty easy to pick up, there are many, many, many more resources available on the web to study it and at UniMelb it's coordinated and run exceptionally well. Plus, more speakers than French and Italian combined :D Oh and did I mention Shakira is a Spanish speaker?

EDIT: Nous t'aimons, Alon :p (points for rhyming?)

Just a note though. If you do decide to do two languages, it is inevitable that your degree will be prolonged by a full year. That may or may not be a deterrent to you.
