I would say it's smarter to do the one that you would most likely be happy with as a back up if you don't get into OMFS first. After finishing one degree, you might have to work while trying to get accepted into the other degree. You may also find other specialities within each field that you may be more interested in. Also remember, having both a medicine and dental degree doesn't make you automatically qualify to be an oral surgeon, it just makes you eligible to apply for training.

The MD and DDS information sessions were held yesterday and apparently dental students get nifty resources. Like 3D lecture capture, 3D printing, your own training suite and a freaking Playstation in your waiting room.

What on earth do you need 3D lecture capture for?

Dentistry first probably makes it easier to lead into the OMFS pathway after graduating, since you'll actually be able to return to uni reasonably quickly and won't have internship etc. concerns to worry about. Having said that, I'd agree that you should do whatever you'd rather practice as first, since the odds of you actually ending up in OMFS are super low.

Is there any point in going to the lectures for breadth: an ecological history of humanity? There is no exam so sitting there writing notes seems like a waste of time tbh

wait what?? I've never heard of this lol. Most of our lecturers are too stingy to set up lectopia, let alone 3D lecture capture

I was terrified at the prospect of starting metabolic pathways in BIOM20001 today, especially with the poor foundation of CHEM10006 and my subsequent general dislike and disinterest for Chemistry (and heaps of rote-learning); even up until now it hasn't been bad but it certainly wasn't my favourite thing to learn either. But I actually found learning glycolysis kind of fun... it seems to tap into my intrinsic desire to put things into place and order. Interesting. XD

OK, so maybe glycolysis alone was alright, but I feel absolutely swamped by BIOM20001 this week... I don't think I've retained or learned much hahaha. I really feel for those sitting the GAMSAT tomorrow who have not only had that to attend to, but also have to contemplate memorising all that content. =_= Anecdotally, I've heard that this week is actually one of the toughest in the subject, so hopefully that turns out to be true. Up until now the subject has been manageable if you've kept up with the lectures. I'm pretty sure we also got conned out of a Biochemistry workshop because Terry misread the subject timetable again. >_<

And wtf at Wednesday's Genetics, Health and Society lecture. I think that takes the cake for most confusing lecture ever. :S
