I've procrastinated more this SWOTVAC than any other, and only now is it starting to hit me just how much of a disservice I have done to myself. :|

does anyone know what the protocol is if you cant sit an exam or the resit of the exam for medical reasons?
friend got an eye infection and the treatment is going to blur his vision for a couple of weeks and apparently those special exams for people who miss the first one are really soon after the original
do you just get to do a late withdrawal or something or do they rescale already completed assessment or something

It'll depend on what alternatives they have. May schedule an exam later when their vision should be clear or something else. Student Center can inform your friend when they submit the special consideration form.

I think what you're meant to do is apply for special consideration, but still sit the exam, as per usual. If the special consideration is granted, they will offer you the opportunity to sit a replacement exam of the same format and difficulty as the original exam a few weeks later. The catch is, if you accept that offer, only your replacement exam results will count and the original exam results are forfeited, regardless of whether they were better or worse than the replacement exam.
I don't think they do scaling of exam assessment in response to special consideration, and it's certainly too late to withdraw from subjects without simply failing.

The awkward moment when your parents drag you out of the house because they think you need a break, when you've actually been wasting a lot of your time. You can imagine the conversation before leaving:

Me: "Mum, believe me, I actually have a lot to do! Please don't take me."
Mum: "Well, unless you've been doing something else in your room you've been working for hours on end seven days straight. (Assumes more suspicious tone) Have you been doing something else?"
Me: "... No."
Mum: "Well it's settled. Time for a break then."

Sigh... I knew this would come back to bite me. -.-

I can relate ahaha. After staring at the lecture slides for days on end, I'm struggling to actually word the integration questions into something coherent, which infinitely multiplies study time much to the astonishment of the household. 'Do you really need to work so much?' seems to be the prevailing response.

Past MCB students: was your paper similar to previous years like 2011/2013, with respect to both multi-choice and integration? Like, did the questions centre around the same ideas like MHC class 2, or Rab, or TSG or cancer?

Is this the point of SWOTVAC when everyone thinks they're doomed and then tries to work out what the worst case scenario would be?

Or maybe it's because I am doomed  :P

Pretty much. This is also the point when you realise that everything has been going in one ear and going out the other.

I asked Peter Kitchener (NEUR30003 lecturer guy) about it - he said it's a good subject. But that's all he said unfortunately. He did seem more enthused to talk about NEUR30004 though.

We never got full past exam papers I think? Not sure. Multi-choice should be similar to what you'd expect in MSTs. There's no full long answer section anymore (so your entire paper is no longer filled with only 12 mark questions like they used to be), you get short answer questions now. For the integration questions they're probably going to get you to explain a full process (ie how does blah blah cause cancer or how is MHC-II trafficked throughout the cell). You should be able to predict what the topics would be if they've told you which topics are going to be integrated. Cancer will defs be on it no matter what seeing as how it connects a lot of things from genetics and cell bio.

Get used to drawing quick though!
